Williams got rid of Senior Racer

WEACCOUNTING NEWS - Having been absent from Formula One (F1) since 2010, Robert Kubica finally docked in the Williams F1 team for the 2018 season. Only, his position is limited to the reserve driver and not the main racer.

Kubica was forced to withdraw from the F1 event after a rally accident in 2011. Since then, he had to wrestle with his injury to get another seat in the Williams team for 2018.

The Polish rider is actually almost down the race. However, the Russian debutant Sergey Sirotkin who get a seat with Williams.

As a result, in a pre-season trial ending Saturday (10/3/2018) at Catalunya Circuit in Barcelona, Spain, Kubica volunteered to hand over his seat to Sirotkin. In fact, that day Kubica is scheduled to be behind the wheel of Williams FW41.

"Many are questioning the decision. I think it should have given Sirotkin more time in the car, "Kubica said.

The former Renault racer called himself trying the Williams FW41 car the day before. For that, he did not feel the need to test again and surrender the rest to Sirotkin.

"I've understood the car from the test yesterday, and it feels like our regular racers will be more likely to be in the car as often as possible. Especially they who will score points, not me, "said Kubica.

Even so, the winner of the Grand Prix (GP) Canada 2008 was still grateful. In fact, Kubica considers reserve position will help the main rider to get the best position.

"Actually I enjoy this position. I got some challenges and opportunities to see the mechanics work, and watched from a different point of view, "said the 33-year-old rider.

With his experience in F1, Kubica hopes to help the young leaf duo William, 19-year-old Lance Stroll, and Sirotkin (22). The result, Kubica can bridge the relationship between the mechanics, and also the racers.

"As a racer, you will only see what is faced on track only. Drivers rarely know how all team members, such as engineers, technicians, and mechanics, work in the garage, "said the driver who started his F1 career with BMW-Sauber.

Though not racing, Kubica will still follow wherever the ground jet circus goes. Therefore, he still attended the first race in Melbourne, Australia, on 25 March.
